Indian students in U.S. hit new high as foreign enrollment rebounds

NEW YORK -- The number of international students at U.S. colleges and universities grew at the fastest rate in over 40 years during the 2022-23 academic year, led by an influx from India.

The U.S. hosted 1,057,188 foreign students, up 12% from the previous academic year, according to the State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs as well as the not-for-profit Institute of International Education.
